Gold / Brass Sinks

Yes. A gold or brass sink can provide everyday kitchen or laundry functionality while creating a warmer metallic feature than traditional stainless steel. However, choose the sink based on bowl size, cabinet compatibility and installation method as well as colour. These finishes all sit within the warm-metal family, but their colour and undertone can be noticeably different. Brass generally has a warmer yellow tone, champagne gold tends to be softer and more muted, while rose gold introduces a pinker undertone. The current collection includes products labelled Brass, Brushed Gold, Champagne Gold, Gold and Rose Gold. Finish names are not standardised between manufacturers, so do not assume two products with similar colour names will match exactly. Choose a single bowl if you want one uninterrupted area for large pots, pans and baking trays or if cabinet space is limited. Choose a double bowl if you prefer separate areas for washing, rinsing, soaking or food preparation. It depends on the individual model. Several sinks in the current MBS range are described as suitable for both drop-in/topmount and undermount installation, while selected double-bowl models also support flush mounting. A topmount sink has a visible rim above the benchtop, while an undermount installation creates a cleaner transition into the bowl. You can create a coordinated look by pairing the sink with warm metallic tapware, but the finishes do not need to be identical. More importantly, products from different manufacturers may vary in colour, sheen and surface texture even when both are described as brass or gold. If you want a close match, compare samples or actual products rather than relying only on the finish name shown online. Alternatively, a contrasting mixer can be used intentionally. Coloured metallic sinks can be straightforward to maintain, but water marks, mineral residue and cleaning marks may appear differently from standard stainless steel. Regular rinsing and wiping the surface dry can help maintain the finish. Avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals or unsuitable cleaners unless specifically approved for the product, as coloured surface treatments can have different care requirements. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact sink you purchase. Before ordering, confirm the overall dimensions, bowl width and depth, minimum cabinet size, mounting method, benchtop cut-out, waste position, tapware location and whether you need a drainer. The current range includes 600 x 450mm, 762 x 457mm, compact laundry/bar sizes, double bowls and selected drainer models, so specifications vary considerably between products.
