How to Choose an Angled / Diamond Shower Screen

An angled or diamond shower screen can be a practical choice when a standard square enclosure takes up too much floor space. By cutting across the outer corner, the angled front can create more clearance around a vanity, toilet or walkway while still providing a fully enclosed shower.

Before ordering, confirm the finished wall dimensions, door clearance and whether you are using a matching shower base.

Is an Angled Screen Right for Your Bathroom?

Angled screens work particularly well in compact bathrooms and ensuites where the outer corner of a square shower would restrict movement.

If you have more available space and prefer a conventional corner enclosure, compare Front & Full Return Shower Screens. Where outward door clearance is limited, Corner / Dual Entry Shower Screens may also be worth considering.

Measure the Finished Space Carefully

Measure after tiling wherever possible. Check both wall-side dimensions at several heights because finished walls may not be perfectly straight.

Angled screens are supplied within specific adjustment ranges, so choose according to the actual finished measurements rather than assuming a nominal 900mm or 1000mm enclosure will fit.

Also check the usable doorway and mark the approximate pivot-door swing on the floor. Make sure it will not interfere with nearby fixtures or the bathroom door.

Match the Screen With the Shower Base

If you are installing the screen on a preformed base, the shape and dimensions need to match. A neo-angled screen should be paired with a compatible neo-angled base rather than simply choosing two products with similar overall dimensions.

Compare suitable options in the Shower Bases collection before plumbing and floor preparation are completed.

For tiled-floor installations or unusual dimensions, check the individual screen specifications before ordering.

Consider Framing and Installation Conditions

A framed angled screen provides structural support and adjustable wall channels that can help accommodate limited variation in finished walls.

However, adjustment cannot correct major out-of-square conditions. If the walls or floor vary significantly, consider whether a Custom Size Shower Screen is more appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. When should I choose an angled or diamond shower screen?

An angled or diamond shower screen is useful when a standard square corner enclosure would project too far into the bathroom. By cutting across the outer corner, the angled front can create more clearance around a vanity, toilet, doorway or walkway while still providing an enclosed shower area. This makes it worth considering for compact bathrooms and ensuites. If your room has enough space for a conventional square enclosure, compare Front & Full Return Shower Screens. For other space-saving layouts, browse Corner / Dual Entry Shower Screens or the full Shower Screen range.

2. How should I measure for an angled shower screen?

Measure the shower after tiling is completed wherever possible. Check both finished wall-side dimensions and measure at more than one height because walls may not be perfectly straight. You should also confirm where the angled front and doorway will sit in relation to nearby fixtures. MBS recommends measuring finished openings at multiple points and checking walls for plumb before ordering. If your layout does not match a standard angled size, compare Custom Size Shower Screens or review the wider Shower Screen collection.

3. What do the adjustable size ranges mean?

The current SS24 angled screen is offered in 835–895 × 835–895mm and 935–995 × 935–995mm adjustment ranges. These ranges allow the wall channels to accommodate limited variation in the finished opening; they do not mean that every shower area close to 900mm or 1000mm will automatically fit. Always refer to the product drawing and compare your finished measurements with the stated range before ordering. If your walls or dimensions fall outside the available range, consider Custom Size Shower Screens or compare Framed Shower Screens with other adjustable configurations.

4. How much space do I need for the pivot door?

A pivot door needs enough clearance to open without hitting a vanity, toilet, towel rail or bathroom door. The current SS24 angled design uses a pivot opening, with the listed door adjustment varying according to screen size. Before ordering, mark the approximate door swing and entry area on the floor and check that the bathroom remains comfortable to use. If outward door clearance is limited, compare Sliding Shower Screens or Corner / Dual Entry Shower Screens, which may make better use of a tight layout.

5. Can an angled shower screen be installed on a shower base?

Yes, but the screen and base dimensions need to be specifically compatible. The current SS24 Diamond screen is listed to match selected Neo Angled Low Profile Polymarble Shower Bases, so the shape and size should be checked together rather than purchasing each item independently. If you prefer a ready-made base, compare the Shower Base collection. If you are considering another shower layout, browse the full Shower Screen range before finalising the floor and enclosure.

6. What if my tiled walls or floor are not perfectly square?

Minor variation is common after tiling. The current angled screen uses adjustable wall channels, which can accommodate a limited amount of unevenness, but they cannot compensate for every out-of-square wall or floor. Measure both wall sides at several points and check the floor level before ordering. If the variation is significant or falls outside the screen’s adjustment range, avoid forcing a standard screen to fit. In that situation, compare Custom Size Shower Screens or other Framed Shower Screens with suitable adjustment.

7. What should I confirm before ordering an angled shower screen?

Before ordering, confirm the finished wall dimensions, adjustment range, screen height, pivot-door clearance, matching shower-base size and nearby fixture positions. The current MBS angled screen is 2000mm high with 6mm toughened safety glass and is designed around specific adjustable size ranges, so the product drawing should be checked carefully before purchase. If you are still deciding whether the angled shape is the best use of space, compare Front & Full Return Shower Screens, Corner / Dual Entry Shower Screens and the complete Shower Screen collection.
